Video: Dialling up the colour

Let’s face it, you’ve already got watches with a black face, a silver face and so on, so why not some coloured options for when you’re in the mood. And while you’re at it, a square watch to boot?

If so, highly-rated Glashütte Original has just the range for you with a Sixties Iconic collection featuring dials in five stunning colours.

The colours give the models their names: Sixties Iconic Forest, Sixties Iconic Ocean, Sixties Iconic Graphite, Sixties Iconic Tangerine and Sixties Iconic Fire.

Glashütte Original
Iconic Graphite.

The watches are directly inspired by the brand’s Spezimatic series introduced in 1964. All are powered by an in-house, self-winding movement and the dials are crafted in Glashütte Original’s own dial manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany.

Glashütte Original
Iconic Tangerine.

Made using original tools and authentic methods from the 1960s, they are the result of an extremely complex and time-consuming process which involves the application of several layers of coloured lacquers to achieve the precise hues and shading, from light dial centres to dark perimeters, known as a “degrade” effect. The dials are then fired in an oven to burn in the colours.

Glashütte Original
Iconic Fire.

Each watch in the exclusive series is fitted with a matching Louisiana Alligator leather strap: brown for the models featuring forest green or tangerine coloured dials, black to complement the models with graphite grey, ocean blue or fiery red dials. Production is limited to 25 of each.
