The brands are here, now for the boutiques?

New brands are on the way, but will we see new brand boutiques too, as the watch folk see Australia in a new light?

With things on the wane in China where recent dramatic sales growth has slowed equally dramatically, watch brands are trying to spot the next markets that will provide the growth they need to keep things ticking over.

Countries such as Canada and Brazil might be mentioned, but none as frequently as Australia. Could we see new brand boutiques coming for the likes of IWC and Piaget, or even Panerai and Jaeger-LeCoultre?  Watch lovers would love to be able to get hold of some of the boutique-only models brands are increasingly offering, and which currently mean a trip to Singapore or Hong Kong. You’d think that in the meantime they’d be available to brand loyalists at the multi-brand retailers, but seems not…
