Experts choose the world’s winning watches

The MB&F legacy machine... a contender in the biennial Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

Just as sport has its grand finals and grands prix, so does watchmaking, and brands are fighting it out in a dozen categories for this year’s horological gongs.

Yes, surprising as it may sound, there’s actually a grand prix of watches that takes place every other year and it’s even called that, namely the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).

The jury, 24 eminent folk drawn from the industry and representing experts, collectors and journalists, announce the winners on October 31 at a gala function in Geneva.

Hundreds of entries, from favourite to feared brands, vie for honours in a competition that literally stops the clock.

We’ll bring you the results when we have them! In the meantime you can have your say: see RANK THE WATCHES OF THE YEAR.
