Here’s a blue beauty with looks that set it apart from more readily available prestige brands. Hysek has given its IO 42mm Power Reserve a revamp and you won’t see it on wrists everywhere.
The niche maker has unveiled a number of haute horlogerie models this year, but with this watch returns to one of its most sober models and given it a classy revamp.
With its three hands, date, and power reserve, the new IO 42 mm embodies Hysek’s take on classical watchmaking. “Creating a pure, enduring timepiece is a more complicated exercise than it looks,” explains Hysek’s CEO Akram Aljord.
“Traditional watchmaking is an area in which much has already been accomplished. Renewing the genre – and adding something new in keeping with our own DNA – has been a gargantuan challenge.”
The new IO 42 mm is the maker’s only model to include a power reserve. Formerly available with a black dial, the piece now has a more contemporary feel thanks to a brighter, livelier electric blue livery.
The new-look, sun-brushed dial has polished rhodium-plated hands and appliques that reflect light in all directions. Meanwhile the date display at 12 o’clock features large windows, making it very readable. The time and date are set using a single crown at 3 o’clock, enhanced with a black disc bearing a raised “H” for Hysek.
The power reserve is shown at 6 o’clock, and displays the watch’s remaining power reserve over 42 hours.
Every aspect of the 42 mm steel case is finessed down to the tiniest detail, with a blend of satin and polished parts. The signature lugs, one of Hysek’s hallmarks are there, along with another – the presence of only the 1, 5, 7 and 11 Arabic numeral applique hour markers.
The timepiece is powered by a Swiss Made automatic movement with 22 jewels, visible through the sapphire caseback. The movement has been developed in line with traditional watchmaking style codes, including a Côtes de Genève finish and blued screws.
Hysek has opted for a high-frequency caliber boasting 28,800 vibrations per hour, guaranteeing perfect precision. The new IO 42 mm Power Reserve sports a blue leather strap.
Our opinion of the Hysek 10 42mm Power Reserve: we love the look and finesse, we love the exclusivity and we’d love one in our collection.
