Presidents and prime ministers worldwide have displayed a taste for fine watches down the decades.
Patek Phillipe has graced the wrists of many, while Breguet’s roll-call of famous wearers has ranged from Napoleon to Winston Churchill along with countless kings, queens and heads of state.
The most recent Australian prime minister to exhibit a fine taste in timepieces was Paul Keating, above, well known as a connoisseur and collector of clocks. His first watch was a silver-faced Breguet purchased from a Sydney antique dealer when he was just 15 years old. That surely makes him a true member of the wristocracy!
