With the January Geneva watch fair just weeks away, brands are pre-releasing details of selected models to whet our appetites.
Geneva’s giant SIHH fair – it stands for the Salon Internationale de la Haute Horlogerie – features A. Lange & Söhne, Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, Greubel Forsey, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Parmigiani Fleurier, Piaget, Ralph Lauren Richard Mille, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
The invitation-only event begins on January 19, where participating brands release major new timepieces for 2015. We’ll be there to bring you the news, and in the meantime keep an eye out for the interesting pre-releases.
Here’s Panerai’s teaser, the Luminor 1950 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Ceramic. In a 44mm case, the PAM580 is a timepiece powered by Panerai’s own P9100 calibre, one that offers a handy 72 hours power reserve, hence the reference to 3 Days in the somewhat lengthy name. One might also expect a lengthy queue for the watch; the matt-finished synthetic ceramic used for the case is five times harder than steel while being lighter and scratch-resistant.
