Frederique Constant with sister brand Alpina has launched a smartwatch Powered by MotionX® that in a “first” looks more like a conventional watch than a smartwatch.
The so-called Swiss Horological Smartwatch is capable of “bi-directional communication” with iPhone and Android apps and instead of using a digital screen features laser cut hands on a traditional dial to display information in analog form.
Released under both the Frederique Constant and Alpina brands, the timepieces support the following functionality: an always-on time and date; MotionX activity tracking; sleep tracker sleep monitoring; sleep cycle alarms; get-active alerts; adaptive coaching; cloud backup and restore. All this in a watch with more than two years battery life.
A MotionX patented sensor-fusion engine tracks activity and sleep patterns with high accuracy while activity and sleep information is presented in real-time using traditional analog dials.
It all synchronises automatically with applications on Apple and Android smartphones. It has simple and easy-to-understand graphics highlighting how much one has moved and slept during the day, week, or month.
The SHS is the result of a joint venture called MMT (Manufacture Modules Technologies Sàrl) between Fullpower Technologies of Silicon Valley and the owners of the Frederique Constant Group.
Frederique Constant and Alpina will launch more than 10 different versions of the watch this year, in styles for both men and women.
