The Tag Heuer Connected Gold is a more luxurious version of its smart watch, the Connected: this time it’s cased in 18K rose gold.
It joins the titanium-cased original and is a move in the opposite direction to that recently taken by Apple, which replaced its five-figure, gold-cased watch with a ceramic-cased version.
No surprise if Tag follows with further options, but in the meantime the Connected Gold is a smart watch with the look of a wristwatch, and not one for hiding under your sleeve given it spans 46mm.
Like the original, it packs technology developed in partnership with Intel and Google. with wi-fi access to the range of features offered by the Android Wear operating system.
The Connected Gold is IP-67 certified, meaning splash and water resistant but not recommended for submersion. Price $14,000.
How do we rate the Tag Heuer Connected Gold: Why not? Although we still see the smart watch as a wrist-borne tool rather than a luxury item.
