Tag Heuer has turned to a carbon matrix composite for the unusual case of this Carrera Calibre 1887 Chronograph.
While the internals might not be new, the case on this Carrera is unusual both in its design and the material used.
The design is in the so-called Bullhead style, where the two chronograph pushers are arranged, like little horns, either side of the crown which sits at the 12 o’clock position.
Brands such as Seiko and recently Omega have also turned to this seldom seen layout, one that’s found favour with enthusiasts.
The 45mm Carrera is astonishingly light, boasts a self-winding chronograph movement with date, and is water resistant to 100 meters. Presented on a “soft-touch” alligator strap, it’s offered for $12,000, quite a bit less than most similarly cased watches.
It will be a limited edition, meaning if you happen to see one…
